I più piccoli hanno giocato due partite con Benetton e Selvazzano e tra mischie e fughe solitarie sono riusciti a trovare anche il tempo per giocare con il fango. Increduli di poter approfondire la conoscenza di questo “simpatico” elemento e per di più facendolo sotto gli occhi di mamma e papà che, per una volta, non hanno potuto urlare la frase tipo: “Stai attento a non sporcarti”.
L’under 8 non è riuscito a ripetere la buona prestazione espressa nell’appuntamento precedente, mancando sopratutto nel gioco di squadra. Gli spunti apprezzabili e l’incisività di qualche atleta non sono stati sufficienti a stimolare i “Tuttineri” udinesi ad un gioco più fruttuoso, ciò a causa anche del terreno di gioco che le piogge, dei giorni precedenti, hanno reso pesante. Per molti bambini era la prima volta su un campo così difficile e il fango è diventato, in alcuni casi, più attraente dell’ovale. In ogni caso tutti hanno comunque trovato la loro fonte di divertimento e svago.
Quattro partite giocate, due vinte e due perse: questo il tabellino dell’under 10 che, dopo aver vinto di misura la prima gara con la Benetton, si è spenta per riaccendersi nell’ultimo incontro con il Selvazzano. I risultati positivi ottenuti, più per azioni individuali che per gioco di squadra, hanno evidenziato una difficoltà generalizzata ad entrare in partita, che ha reso gioco facile agli avversari.
Bene l’under 12 che, nella prima partita giocata, contro la “pesante” formazione del Tarvisium, ha vinto 7 – 5, evidenziando un notevole miglioramento atletico e tecnico. Nel secondo match la Benetton ha avuto la meglio (6 – 3): la squadra di casa si è dimostrata più esperta, sfruttando al meglio il fattore campo e giocando un buon rugby che gli udinesi hanno potuto contenere con difficoltà. A fine raggruppamento, dopo il tradizionale Terzo Tempo con genitori e atleti, la carovana della Rugby Udine Junior si è trasferita allo stadio Monigo, per assistere alla partita tra Benetton Treviso e Leinster. Per molti bambini e per i loro genitori è stata la prima opportunità di vedere una partita di rugby, di livello. Un’esperienza emozionante che ha permesso di far comprendere alle famiglie che, in alcuni casi, poco conoscono questo mondo che, anche nelle partite giocate in queste categorie, l’atmosfera d’amicizia e lealtà è la stessa che si trova sui campi, in occasione delle partite dei loro figli.
