La partita è iniziata alla grande per Udine che da subito ha imposto un gioco ordinato e paziente, riuscendo sempre a mantenere un buon possesso della palla, sprecando però diverse superiorità numeriche sugli spazi larghi. I friulani sono riusciti ad andare in vantaggio, ma non è trascorso molto che il Mogliano è riuscito a pareggiare i conti e successivamente a portarsi avanti 14 – 5. Prima dell’intervallo i ragazzi udinesi, con una gran reazione, sono riusciti a portare in parità il numero delle mete segnate, anche se alla fine del primo tempo il punteggio era 14 – 12 per i veneti. Nella ripresa il Mogliano è riuscito a prendere in mano le redini del gioco, confermando d’essere estremamente efficace al largo e, infatti, a distanza di poco tempo sono stati proprio gli ospiti a segnare due mete, approfittando di alcuni errori difensivi dei friulani. Con gli ospiti in vantaggio la partita sembrava prendere la piega dei pronostici, ma i ragazzi della Junior non hanno abbassato la testa e, consapevoli delle loro potenzialità, si sono fatti avanti iniziando a macinare gioco e nonostante le insidie create dalla pioggia sono riusciti a mettere in difficoltà la buonissima difesa dei veneti, andando a segno in due occasioni, riducendo così lo svantaggio. Nel finale di partita è infine uscito tutto l’orgoglio dei friulani e il grande spirito di squadra che li caratterizza, che li ha portati a marcare la meta della vittoria con una grandissima azione partita dalla propria metà campo. La partita è terminata 31 – 28 per la Udine Rugby Junior tra la soddisfazione dei tecnici De Spirt, Lentini e Giannangeli e l’euforia dei giocatori, consapevoli di aver ottenuto una vittoria meritata, frutto dell’impegno e del lavoro svolto in questi ultimi anni. Sabato prossimo sarà la volta dei Grifoni Rugby Oderzo: tra le mure amiche del Rugby Stadium i friulani affronteranno, per la seconda volta in un mese, gli opitergini, in una partita che si preannuncia tutt’altro che facile.
